It's really odd, because at my school, pretty much everyone wears short dresses to prom. You would be hard-pressed to find someone in a long dress, especially a poofy princess one. At the other schools in my area, they all wear long dresses, however. I find short dresses are sometimes better because long ones are so expensive, but I think prom should be more classy and elegant.

I like going for something more traditional than short dresses for prom, and I really, REALLY don't like princess dresses, they are so over the top. I wouldn't spend a fortune on a dress, but your prom is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so it's OK to splurge a bit
